The Broke Wives' Club is a safe place for all women to motivate, inspire and uplift each other in the common goal of helping each other to be the best they can both temporally and spiritually.

Donna M. Butler, Founder and President of
The Broke Wives' Club

I founded The Broke Wives' Club when my husband Ivy, became disabled and I realized that I would have to take his place in taking care of the temporal needs of our family.  I was already a strong help mate and while he worked outside of the home I ran our home based business, Daddy-Man, Inc. (www.daddy-man.com),   With Ivy disabled, I had to put our home business on hold and began a job search which made me feel like a piece of cattle on the auction block.  I was told everything from "You are over qualified," "Under qualified," "Too old," "You don't have a current employment history."  It was crazy as well as disheartening.  On the verge of a breakdown I found myself sitting alone on my couch crying at 1 am and praying for guidance and strength. I realized that no one was going to come in and rescue my family, and that I was going to have to pick myself up and be there for my family the way my husband had always been.  With no formal training other than a Paralegal degree, and extensive life training, The Broke Wives' Club  has been established.

My husband did a wonderful job of caring for all of us.  We were not rich by any means and we basically lived paycheck to paycheck, but we had a good family life and learned to be grateful for everything we had.  Our children grew up expecting their father and I to provide the things that were necessities...food, clothing, shelter and the ability for them to receive a proper education.  They were raised with love, family values and family traditions.

While sitting at home one afternoon, faxing yet another copy of my resume, my dear friend Julie, stopped by to tell me that a national pizza chain was looking for an assistant manager.  My friend had already talked to the manager and told her about me.  I was to go see her right away.

In the consideration of  time and the space I have, I was hired and am earning slightly above minimum wage.  I will be forever grateful for the wonderful people who hired me and the people that I have been associated with while working for this company.  The work isn't easy and it reminds me of being at home, but I am constantly reminded that I am not home.  I miss being there for my children, especially my younger children who are five and seven who have never known me not to be in the home.  There are tears and frustration, not only from them but me as well.  It is difficult I will admit, but I am assured of one thing....I AM NOT ALONE!  There are hundreds, thousands of women in the same boat that I am in.  Women trying to help their families stay afloat in these hard economic times.

It is my mission for The Broke Wives' Club to provide a network of those interested in helping one another in the common goal of womanhood and raising healthy families.  This isn't a new idea, gimmick or fad that will come and go in a month or when you get tired...families aren't gimmicks.  They are meant to last forever and without the fear of foreclosure on a family home, fear of losing utilities or the inability to eat and become the best they can be.  If a woman has the responsibility to help maintain these things, let The Broke Wives' Club be an asset to her by encouraging, guiding and giving her a place to share, learn and love with her sisters.

You may read my real life blog where I take you on the journey of my life..the ups and downs of trying to keep my own family afloat while dealing with my personal issues and obstacles.  This blog is in "real time" and is not edited and open for comments.

I dedicate this page to my loving husband Ivy, and our children Haley, Arielle, Teayona, Myeshia, Mikaeylla, Ariane, Elle, Michael, my awesome son in law, Benjamin and beautiful grandsons Noah, Kai and Landon.  Without them and my Heavenly Father in my life, I would be nothing.
